Tools for design and AI-assisted development.

The software, hardware, and tools I use for UX design and coding with AI. From Cursor to Figma, and everything in between.

Development

  • Cursor

My primary code editor. AI-first design makes it perfect for rapid prototyping and iterating on UX implementations.

  • VS Code

Backup editor for when I need specific extensions or need to work without AI assistance.

  • iTerm2

Terminal of choice. Better split panes and customization than the default macOS Terminal.

  • GitHub

Version control and collaboration. Essential for managing client projects and my own work.

Design

  • Figma

Design tool for initial concepts and client presentations. Though I prefer designing in code when possible.

  • Excalidraw

Quick sketches and wireframes. Love the hand-drawn aesthetic for early-stage thinking.

  • Arc Browser

Primary browser for design work. Great for managing multiple project tabs and visual bookmarking.

AI Tools

  • Claude

My go-to AI assistant for complex reasoning and code refactoring. Excellent at understanding UX problems.

  • ChatGPT

Quick lookups and general assistance. Good for research and exploring different approaches.

  • v0 by Vercel

Rapid UI generation. Great starting point for component structures, though always needs refinement.

Productivity

  • Notion

Project management and documentation. Where I track client work and plan content.

  • Cal.com

Scheduling tool for client calls and workshops. Open-source alternative to Calendly.

  • Substack

Newsletter platform. Simple, focused on writing, no distractions.

  • reMarkable

Digital paper tablet for sketching UX flows and thinking through problems away from screens.

Hardware

  • MacBook Pro M2 Max

Main machine. 32GB RAM handles everything I throw at it - design, development, multiple browsers.

  • LG UltraFine 5K Display

External display for deep work. HiDPI makes design work crisp and comfortable.

  • Magic Keyboard & Trackpad

Simple, reliable, works perfectly with macOS gestures.

  • Herman Miller Aeron Chair

Worth the investment when you're sitting for long periods. Adjustable for proper ergonomics.
